Deputy Fire Chief Jonathan Karn says when crews from both Elora and Fergus stations arrived, they found a fire at The Showroom Vintage and Home store building in Elora.
Karn says the fire was contained to that area of the building; however, at this point, about 12 people total were displaced, including 2 permanent tenants and about 10 people who were staying in separate Airbnbs.
No injuries were reported among the tenants or firefighters on the scene.
Karn says they do have a pretty good sense of what caused the fire.
The Showroom Vintage and Home store is currently closed.

The rest of the building is closed too. Karn says, the tenants and Airbnb units, while not all were involved with the fire, there was a lot of smoke and water damage to the units.
Karn says it is really good that there were working smoke alarms in the building, as all the tenants were alerted and able to self-evacuate prior to firefighters arriving on scene.
There is no estimate of the damage at this time.
Karn says Metcalfe was closed but has since reopened, and fire crews have cleared the scene.
The fire is deemed accidental and not suspicious.
