FERGUS – Wellington County OPP is receiving $187,239.40 to address fraud.
In a news release Thursday, the province says theĀ funding is being delivered through the Community Safety and Policing Grant Program and will be used to address the growing threat of fraud targeting vulnerable populations, including older adults, individuals experiencing mental health or addiction challenges, and small business owners.
“Fraud is a growing concern in our community, especially amongst our vulnerable population. This funding will help our local police tackle this important issue and keep our communities and loved ones safe. Our government will do whatever it takes to protect the people of Ontario,” said Joseph Racinsky, MPP for Wellington-Halton Hills.
The Wellington County OPP project is one of 127 projects being funded across the province for 2025-26.
Of the 127 projects, 88 projects will address local priorities and 39 projects will address provincial priorities, including gun and gang-related violence, sexual violence and harassment, human trafficking, mental health and addictions, hate-motivated crime, housing and homelessness, and commercial/retail theft.
