ELORA – A report going before Centre Wellington Council next Tuesday includes a recommendation to approve funding to light up the Elora Green Space for the 2025/2026 winter season.
According to the report, last year’s illumination of the Elora Green Space was facilitated through a donation agreement.
However, for this upcoming winter season, no donor is available, and through the previous donation, the lights are now owned by the Township.
Last year saw the Elora Green Space, Elora Walking Bridge, and the Elora Tourism Office illuminated, but for this season, staff are proposing that only the Green Space be illuminated.

Staff says having the Green Space illuminated creates a seasonal atmosphere and supports tourism and economic development.
Installation of lighting would be scheduled for early November 2025. Lighting would be activated after Remembrance Day and deactivated at the end of February 2026.
The removal of lights would occur in early March 2026.
The report says it will cost $11,835, including the non-refundable HST, to install and remove the lights. This would be funded from the General Capital Reserve.
Council will consider the report at Tuesday’s 2 pm meeting.
