FERGUS – The Fergus Whalers had a busy weekend.
On Friday night, the PJHL Whalers hit the road for a contest against the Hanover Barons, with the Barons scoring early and often, downing the Whalers by a score of 5 to 1.
Jake Lessor had the lone goal for the Whalers, with a stellar relief effort by rookie goaltender Carter Curran providing a couple of bright spots for Fergus.
Back on the road again on Saturday evening, the Whalers were downed by the Mount Forest Patriots by a score of 4 to 1.
Patriot goalie Drew Cribbin had a solid night, stopping 39 of 40 shots for Mount Forest, with Andrew McClure with the lone marker for the Whalers.
Fergus looks to get back to their winning ways next weekend with two home games, this Friday against the Mitchell Hawks and Sunday versus the Kincardine Bulldogs at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex.
