GUELPH – A school in Guelph will remain closed for the remainder of the week following a fire on Tuesday night.
The Upper Grand District School Board says due to a fire in the mechanical room at the school, Mitchell Woods Public School will remain closed for Thursday, October 16, and Friday, October 17, to allow for a thorough cleanup and inspection of equipment and systems.
No cause of the fire has been determined yet.
Students are to continue remote learning where possible. Staff should not report to work in person, and should continue working remotely where possible. All buses and taxis will be cancelled to the school until it reopens.
The UGDSB will continue to provide updates online as more information becomes available and we’ll confirm if we are able to return to in person learning on Monday, October 20 as soon as we are able to do so.
