MEDIA RELEASE WELLINGTON COUNTY MUSEUM AND ARCHIVES
Aboyne, Ont. – The Wellington County Museum and Archives (WCMA) is hosting several events this month to celebrate Halloween.
Murder Mystery Nights (ages 14+), October 24 and 25, 7:00 – 9:30 pm
It’s 1946 and tragedy has struck at the County Poor House. William Howes, Keeper of the House, has sadly passed away, and the community is welcome to join his wife, Ethel, at the celebration of life. Times are tough for the Poor House and all community support is appreciated during these trying months. What could go wrong?
Unleash your detective skills for this live theatrical performance, complete with hors d’oeuvres, drinks and live music. There are two types of tickets: an alcoholic drink ticket is $50 plus HST, and a non-alcoholic drink ticket is $40 plus HST.
Cemetery Tours (ages 14+), October 24 and 25, 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm
Explore the burial sites of the former ‘Poor House’ in these one hour tours of the House Cemetery. Tickets are $15 per person plus HST.
Beyond the Veil (ages 14+), October 31 and November 1, 9:00 pm and 11:59 pm
Enter Beyond the Veil—a rare chance to explore the Wellington County Museum & Archives after dark. On the evenings of October 31st and November 1st, wander the shadowy halls where history lingers, and the past may not be as quiet as it seems. Ghosts, ghouls, and mysteries await… but only for those brave enough to seek them. Do you dare to step inside?
Pumpkin Walk, November 1, 6:00 pm
Show off your Jack O’Lanterns at this annual event. Bring your carved pumpkins to the museum between 9:00 am and 4:30 pm. From 6:00 – 8:00 pm, walk through the rows of the lit-up pumpkins to find your own and discover others. Pre-registration is not required, and admission is by donation.
Please note that the Hallow’Tots Party on October 31, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am is fully booked.
