FERGUS – It was a busy weekend for the Fergus Whalers Junior Hockey Club.
The PJHL team hit the road on Saturday night for a game with the Wingham Ironmen.
The Whalers battled back from an early 2-goal deficit to score 4 unanswered for a 4 to 2 victory.
Joey Martin led the comeback with 2 goals and 1 assist. Andrew McClure notched the game winner with 6 minutes remaining to lift the Whalers to their third straight win.
Back home in Fergus on Sunday, the Whalers battled their Hwy 6 rivals, the Mount Forest Patriots, in an afternoon tilt.
Fergus scored early and often, handing the Patriots a 9 to 0 loss. The win extended the Whalers’ win streak to four games.
Goalie Noah Lundgren had a 29-save shutout for the Whalers, while Tristan Sentance had 4 assists in the victory. Gavin Lavery, with his first 2 PJHL goals, chipped in as well for the Whalers
The Whalers’ next home game is this Sunday when they host the Walkerton Capitals.
