Press Release: Town of Erin
ERIN—The Town of Erin’s Economic Development Office is getting noticed on a national level, after receiving an award from the Economic Development Association of Canada (EDAC).
The Town of Erin’s Economic Development Office received the App/Social Media category award for the Discover Erin Reels Campaign: Telling Local Stories to Inspire Travel.
The award recognized the recent Instagram reel campaign on the Discover Erin social media page, promoting local businesses, organizations and groups while promoting local tourism.
“I am thrilled that the Discover Erin campaign has been recognized with a Marketing Canada Award from EDAC. This project was designed to celebrate the people, places and experiences that make the Town of Erin unique,” said Marina Mato, Erin’s Economic Development Officer, who accepted the award at the recent EDAC Conference in Niagara-on-the-Lake. “This award reflects our community’s spirit and collaboration. We’re so proud to share our Town’s story and to see it recognized at a national level.”
The campaign was a series of 40 video reels showcasing 35 local businesses, telling the stories of the community and showcasing what makes Erin unique.
The videos explored a hidden gem antique shop, several farms, places to stay, a community arts group and much more.
“This campaign completely exceeded our expectations,” said Mato, explaining that the reels boosted Discover Erin’s Instagram followers by 700 per cent in the first year.
“This project was important because it offered a platform to showcase what makes my shop unique,” said John Wright, owner of the Wright Attitude Shoppe in a Shed.
“The impact has been amazing,” said Emma de Vaal, of Club Ned, a new children’s activity centre in Erin Village. “We’ve had more people walk through the door saying they saw us in a reel.”
