GUELPH – Guelph Police is investigating after several children reported a male offering them candy to go with him during a minor hockey game.
On Monday, a Guelph mother called to report an incident that occurred Saturday afternoon at the West End Recreation Centre.
The mother said her seven-year-old daughter reported she was playing with a younger child when a male approached and offered them candy to go with him.
“The children ran and notified the complainant, who found and confronted the male. He denied speaking to the children and quickly left the area. He was described as 16 to 18 years old with a thin build and dark short hair and was wearing a red hoodie and dark pants. A parent from the visiting team later said her daughter had reported a similar interaction with the male,” police said in a media release.
Police later received a video of part of the hockey game which briefly captured the interaction between the male and the first two children.
