CENTRE WELLINGTON – The puck is set to drop on the 7th annual Grand River Mustangs Remembrance Day Classic Tournament, starting Friday, Nov. 7, to Sunday, Nov. 9th at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex.
This is the only Remembrance Day Tournament in North America, and it welcomes 56 teams, from B through C Rep Teams and House League Teams that will play in Fergus, Elora, Drayton, Arthur, and Grand Valley.

Game on – The Grand River Mustangs are ready to host the 7th annual Remembrance Day Classic Tournament that began early on Nov. 7 and will run at various arenas in Centre Wellington, Wellington County and Grand Valley until Nov. 9th.

Puck drop – The Grand River Mustang’s 7th annual Remembrance Day Classic Tournament took to the ice today and welcomed members of the Canadian Armed Forces to take part in a ceremonial puck-drop, but also to be present throughout the weekend for special events and to talk to the community about their role and the work of the Canadian Armed Forces.

Evans credits the partnership of working alongside both the Fergus and Elora Legions to ensure respectful traditions, messages, and themes throughout the weekend’s special Remembrance events that are included in the weekend schedule, to ensure this is about more than hockey. Members of the Canadian Armed Forces will also be in attendance.

Remembrance Day Classic Tournament – For the past 7 years, the Grand River Mustangs have worked alongside both the Fergus and Elora Legions to create a unique girls hockey tournament that honours the significance and values of Remembrance Day.

The Remembrance Day Classic Tournament is about more than the game of hockey. To ensure the day lives up to its name, special events and new traditions take place throughout the weekend.
Evans enjoys seeing the expanse of the league, as it spreads out beyond Centre Wellington, which allows the tournament to be hosted in different venues, all supporting the athletes of the Grand River Mustang community who live beyond Fergus and Elora.
The Grand River Mustang Association is proud to welcome athletes from across the province, many of whom return specifically for this tournament because of the importance and significance of the event beyond the game.
