NEWS RELEASE WELLINGTON COUNTY OPP
(GUELPH, ON) – A driver from Newmarket is facing a stunt driving charge after being caught driving almost double the posted speed limit in Guelph.
On November 4, 2025, at approximately 9:30 p.m., a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting proactive speed enforcement on Hanlon Parkway in Guelph, when they found a driver to be travelling 75 + km/h over the posted speed limit.
As a result of the investigation, a 20-year-old from Newmarket is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:
- Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive Speeding
- Speeding 1-49 km/h over posted limit
Anyone charged with ‘drive motor vehicle – perform stunt’ receives a 14-day vehicle impoundment and a 30-day driver’s licence suspension as per statute.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Provincial Court of Justice – Guelph on a later date.
