NEWS RELEASE TOWN OF ERIN
Erin, Ontario – The Town of Erin is proud to announce that Chief Administrative Officer Rob Adams has been named Municipal World’s CAO of the Year for 2025, a prestigious honour that recognizes outstanding dedication, innovation, and leadership in Canadian municipal governance.
Adams was selected from a competitive field of finalists representing municipalities from across Canada, including British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Saskatchewan, and Nova Scotia.
Adams was appointed CAO of Erin in March 2024 and quickly became known for his strategic, community–focused approach to governance. His leadership style emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and sustainable growth — qualities that have helped Erin navigate a period of transformation and opportunity.
“I was surprised. There are so many absolutely terrific CAOs out there who are building communities, solving problems, doing amazing things,” said Adams. “I feel humbled and honoured at the same time.”
Adams also expressed gratitude to his work colleagues:
“Local government is truly a team sport. Any recognition like this reflects the collective efforts of so many people — the talented and dedicated staff at the Town of Erin, our supportive Council, and the many colleagues and mentors I’ve had the privilege of learning from throughout my career. I share this honour with all my wonderful colleagues in the municipal sector. Running a municipality takes collaboration, trust, and a shared commitment to serving our community. I’m grateful every day for the opportunity to do this work — to help build stronger, more resilient, and more connected communities.”
“My sincere thanks to Municipal World for shining a light on the important and often behind–the–scenes work of municipal professionals across Canada,” added Adams.
Before joining Erin, Adams served as CAO in Whitchurch–Stouffville and Grey Highlands. His extensive experience in municipal leadership also includes elected roles as a three–term mayor and councillor in Orangeville, Ontario, and four terms as warden of Dufferin County. He is also the founder of Town Hall Consulting Inc., a boutique firm specializing in municipal strategy and leadership development.
Adams was selected by a panel of judges who reviewed a list of 10 finalists drawn from two dozen nominations submitted by people in communities across the country. This is the second year for the CAO of the Year award, and Adams joins Pickering CAO Marisa Carpino on the growing list of honourees.
Adams will be featured in the December issue of Municipal World, highlighting his contributions to municipal excellence and community building.
