On Wednesday, November 5th 2025, a Rockwood resident fell victim to a “grandparent scam” and was defrauded of $5,000.
The victim was contacted by phone by someone suggesting the victim’s son had been arrested and they needed money for bail. The suspect attended the victim’s home to collect the money. It was only a short time later, the victim discovered their son had not been arrested and that it was a scam.
The suspect is described as middle-aged male, with brown skin, facial hair, heavy build, wearing a white t-shirt and dark pants. The suspect spoke English and identified themselves as “Najib”. The suspect vehicle is described as a white Toyota sedan with tinted windows.
