GUELPH – A Rockwood man faces impaired driving and other charges following a traffic stop in Guelph Saturday.
Just after 3 pm, Guelph Police pulled over a blue Subaru after the cruiser’s automated licence plate reader alerted to plates which were not registered to a vehicle.
While speaking to the driver, the officer detected an odour of alcohol on his breath. After failing a roadside test, the man was arrested and transported to the police station, where further tests confirmed he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system.
A 37-year-old Rockwood man is charged with impaired operation, using unauthorized plates, failing to surrender a licence, and driving a vehicle without insurance.
His licence was suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
