ELORA – The re-opening of Elora’s Waste Facility has been delayed to the new year.
In a report to the County of Wellington’s Solid Waste Services Committee on Monday morning, staff say construction was originally planned to be completed by the end of this month, with a planned reopening in early December.
However, as construction progressed, several design elements needed to be addressed to aid in site operations and patron experience.
The report says each design/construction adjustment has led to delays in the project completion timing.
The main upgrades include:
- An expanded drop-off area for improved unloading and site traffic management
- Scale house construction with installation of dual scales
- Replacement of the retaining wall and Household Hazardous Waste building
- Paving and concrete works
The Elora Waste Facility is now expected to be complete at the end of December, and in consideration of potential inclement weather, construction may carry over into early January.
Staff are planning for a re-opening of the site in mid-January.
Site improvements at the Elora Waste Facility began in April 2025.
