FERGUS – In local PJHL action this past weekend, the Fergus Whalers travelled to Hanover for a Saturday afternoon matinee against the first-place division rival Hanover Barons.
The Whalers, led by goals by Ryan Forwell, Joey Martin, and Jacob Jackson, took a 3 to 0 lead into the third period and held on for a 3 to 1 victory.
Carter Curran was rock solid in goal, stopping 31 out of 32 shots for the Whalers.
Back home on Sunday, Fergus took on the Wingham Ironmen with the Whalers responding from an early first-period deficit to score 5 straight goals for a 7 to 3 victory.
Jake Lesser and Andrew McClure had 2 goals apiece to pace the Whaler attack.
With the back-to-back victories, the Whalers now find themselves 1 point out of first place in the very competitive Pollock Division.
The Whalers next game is this Sunday, December 14th vs the Hanover Barons at 3 pm at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex.
