NEWS RELEASE TOWN OF ERIN
Last Thursday, Town of Erin council passed the 2026 budget, focusing on maintaining municipal services and infrastructure while advancing and supporting the Strategic Plan.
The budget includes a 3.8 per cent tax increase to manage inflationary pressures, while maintaining existing service levels. This increase equates to approximately $12 per $100,000 of assessment on an average home.
The budget also provides funding for several critical capital projects, including the purchase of a single-axle snowplow, the replacement of Erin Fire and Emergency Service’s Pumper No. 52, and the replacement of the main network server at Town Hall.
“This document is more than a collection of financial figures; it is the fiscal blueprint for our community’s journey forward,” said Erin Mayor Michael Dehn. “It reflects our shared values and this Council’s unwavering commitment to a singular, guiding principle: enhancing the quality of life for every person who calls Erin home.”
Town staff have taken a careful approach to budget planning for 2026, focusing on maintaining quality services across departments, while reducing costs where possible. The 2026 budget contains no new staff positions or new programs for the upcoming year.
“Our main goal, as always, is fiscal responsibility,” said Treasurer Wendy Parr. “This budget reflects a measured approach to protecting the Town’s long-term financial sustainability, while staying true to the values and pillars of Erin’s Strategic Plan.”
