FERGUS – In local PJHL hockey action this past weekend, the Fergus Whalers scheduled home game on Friday vs. the Hanover Barons was postponed due to poor driving conditions.
On Saturday evening, the Whalers travelled to Wingham to take on the Ironmen, with Fergus coming away with a resounding 9 to 0 victory.
Two-goal games by Joey Martin, Tyler Ewald and Lucas Militic led the way offensively for the Whalers, along with a 4-point effort from defenceman Nolan Drury.
Noah Lundgren stopped all 20 shots for his 3rd shutout of the season.
The Whalers were back on the road for an afternoon matchup in Walkerton Sunday, with the hometown Capitals prevailing by a score of 6 to 1, with the Whalers lone marker coming from rookie Gavin Lavery.
Walkerton’s goalie, Liam Griffin, stopped 34 of 35 shots for the home side.
The Whalers are off for the Holiday break until the New Year, when they face off against theĀ Mitchell Hawks on Sunday, January 4th at 3 pm at the Central Wellington Community Sportsplex.
