CENTRE WELLINGTON – The launch of Centre Wellington’s downtown paid parking program in Elora has been postponed.
The program was to launch on January 5th; however, in a post to social media Monday, the township says the go-live of the paid parking program has been postponed to allow additional time for signage installation and kiosk commissioning, as weather-related challenges have impacted program readiness.
The township says staff are also updating the exemption platform to allow registration of up to four licence plates per residential property.
A revised launch date has not yet been finalized and will be communicated when available.
Back in May, Centre Wellington council approved the start of a Downtown Paid Parking Program in Elora, introducing two zones:
- Zone 1 for high-turnover parking with a three-hour limit
- Zone 2 for longer stays of up to 24 hours.
The program will see a consistent rate of three dollars per hour, with Zone 2 capped at a daily maximum of fifteen dollars.
Users of parking in the designated zones in Elora will be able to pay online or by using one of the installed Kiosks in the Downtown area to access the online payment site.
Paid parking will run seven days a week, from 9am to 7pm.
Centre Wellington residents can register their licence plates for free parking, and in partnership with the Elora BIA, employers will also be able to register one vehicle per employee for free parking in the downtown core.
