MAPLETON TOWNSHIP – Spring road construction will soon be upon us and in the Township of Mapleton, the Simmons Bridge at the northwest edge of Drayton will be undergoing rehabilitation beginning May 25 until late October.
That means beginning May 25. Wellington Street North (WR11) will be closed during construction, with northern traffic detoured via Wellington Rd 7 to Wellington Rd 12.
This work will impact travel through downtown Drayton, access to nearby sports fields, and access to local businesses on both sides of the bridge.
Before the work gets underway, the community is invited to a Public Information Session hosted by the County of Wellington to learn more about the project.
This will take place on Wednesday, March 11, 2026
