FERGUS – In local PJHL action this past weekend, the Fergus Whalers wrapped up the regular season with 3 hard-fought victories to run their winning streak to 14 to capture the Pollock Division title for the first time in team history.
The Whalers edged out the defending Schmalz Cup champion Hanover Barons by a single point to secure the division.
Andrew McClure led the attack this weekend with 5 goals, while Jake Lessor added his 40th marker of the season in yesterday’s division-clinching game.
Joey Martin ended the regular season tied for the league lead in points to cap an impressive first season with the Whalers.
A great crowd at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex yesterday witnessed the team secure a first-round playoff bye while the team awaits its next round opponent.
