Press Release: Wellington County OPP, Feb. 20, 2026
ERIN – One person is facing several charges in connection with an incident on Wellington Road 124 between Trafalgar Road and Patrick Drive in Erin.
On February 19, 2026, at approximately 2:15 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wellington detachment responded to a call from an individual reporting they were being held against their will by another individual.
Police attended a business on Wellington Road 124 after the victim contacted 9-1-1. The suspect fled the scene on foot and was taken into custody without incident a short time later.
There were no injuries.
As a precaution, a nearby school initiated a “hold and secure” while OPP members contained the area for the investigation.
A 28-year-old individual from Brantford is charged with the following Criminal Code offences.
- Assault – spousal
- Assault Cause Bodily Harm
- Kidnapping
- Intimidation
- Uttering threats
The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph at a later date. The OPP will not release name of the charged party to protect the identity of the victim.
