NEWS RELEASE WELLINGTON COUNTY OPP
(MAPLETON TOWNSHIP, ON) – One individual was taken to hospital following a snowmobile collision.
On February 24, 2026, at approximately 9:30 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), alongside local paramedic and fire services, responded to the report of a single motorized snow vehicle collision with a hay trailer on a trail off of Sideroad 17 within Mapleton Township.
A 29-year-old from Listowel was transported to hospital with minor, non-life-threatening injuries.
The Wellington County OPP would like to take this opportunity to remind snowmobilers to make safety their top priority this season. Excessive speed, loss of control, alcohol impairment and inattentive riding are the leading contributing factors to fatal snowmobile collisions in Ontario.
