NEWS RELEASE UPPER GRAND DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
GUELPH, Ontario – At the February 24, 2026, Board Meeting, the Upper Grand District School Board approved draft calendars for the 2026-2027 school year for elementary and secondary schools in the Upper Grand DSB. The draft calendars will now be submitted to the Ministry of Education for final approval.
The calendars were reviewed by a committee of stakeholders, including representatives from all bargaining units, principals, human resources, board staff, transportation, and parents.
Both the elementary and secondary school year calendars consist of 194 school days inclusive of seven professional activity days. For secondary schools, 10 school days have been scheduled for examinations. The calendars meet the requirements under the regulation and abide by the respective UGDSB collective agreements.
It is proposed that students start the year on Tuesday September 8, 2026. For the Winter Break, classes will run until Friday December 18, 2026, and return after the holidays on Monday January 4, 2027. March Break will be from Monday March 15, 2027, through to Friday March 19, 2027. The last day of school for students will fall on June 29, 2027.
The draft calendars will be posted on the UGDSB website. The webpage will be updated once the Ministry has given final approval of the 2026-27 calendars.
