NEWS RELEASE WELLINGTON COUNTY OPP
(MINTO, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a fatal structure fire that resulted in the death of one individual.
On February 28, 2026, at approximately 2:30 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP, along with the Minto Fire Department and Guelph‑Wellington Emergency Medical Services, responded to a reported structure fire on Minto‑Normandy Townline in the Township of Minto.
Emergency responders located a 75‑year‑old individual inside the residence. The person was transported to hospital where they were later pronounced deceased.
Fire crews successfully contained and extinguished the fire. The Office of the Fire Marshal, the Office of the Chief Coroner, and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service are continuing the investigation into the cause of the fire and the circumstances surrounding the death.
