BELWOOD – The Belwood Lions Club’s annual Pike Derby has officially been cancelled for 2026.
The Pike Derby was scheduled for May 23 & 24, 2026, always held the weekend following the Victoria Day holiday.
In a post to social media, the club states renovations at the Belwood Hall and ongoing construction in the area means the club does not feel they can safely host the event on site. They thanked the efforts of the Township of Centre Wellington to work with them to make it happen, but the club sites the lack of a secure space with public facilities, electrical and internet accessibility that are required to properly conduct things such as registration, scoring and award presentations means they cannot offer the event.
The Belwood Lions Pike Derby is an important fundraiser for the small club that has raised $40,000 dollars for the Groves Hospital Foundation.
While they thank their loyal anglers and sponsors for the understanding for the 2026 event, the club says their next Pike Derby will be held on May 29 & 30, 2027, with a new Belwood Hall facility and the same exciting competition and awards.
