DRAYTON – As spring road construction is soon to be underway, residents and business owners in downtown Drayton are invited to attend the County of Wellington’s information session about the upcoming Simmons Bridge rehabilitation project.
This is an opportunity to learn about the construction timeline, traffic impacts, and resources available to support businesses during the project.
The County of Wellington will be rehabilitating the Simmons Bridge at the northwest edge of Drayton in the Township of Mapleton from May 25 to late October 2026. Wellington Street North will be closed to traffic during construction, with northern traffic detoured via Wellington Road 7 to Wellington Road 12. This work will affect travel through downtown Drayton, access to nearby sports fields, and access to local businesses on both sides of the bridge.
As a result, the County will be introducing the “Worth the Detour to Drayton”” Marketing Toolkit, designed to help local businesses and organizations stay visible and connected with customers during construction.
The information session will be held March 11 from 6 to 8pm at the PMD Arena in Drayton.
