NEWS RELEASE WELLINGTON COUNTY OPP
(MAPLETON TOWNSHIP, ON) – A driver is charged following a collision in Mapleton.
On March 7, 2026, at approximately 9:30 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP responded to the report of a single-vehicle collision into a ditch on Wellington Road 7 in Mapleton Township. There were no reported injuries.
Police demanded the driver provide a sample of their breath into an Approved Screening Device (ASD), which registered a warn range “alert”. As a result, they received a 7-day driver’s licence suspension.
As a result of the investigation, a 64-year-old from Conn, is charged under the Liquor Licence and Control Act with:
- Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor
The charge of ‘Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor’ under the LLCA is accompanied by a $215.00 fine.
