GUELPH-ERAMOSA – Police are investigating a theft from a vehicle in Ariss.
On March 10, 2026, at approximately 11:45 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the report of an overnight theft from a vehicle at a residence in Ariss.
It was reported that on March 9, 2026, at approximately 11:45 p.m., a female suspect exited a dark coloured pick-up truck, driven by another suspect. The suspect walked down the victim’s driveway, accessed their vehicle’s glovebox and stole personal documents. The suspects then departed in the pick-up truck. The victim became aware of the incident the following day and contacted police.
The investigation is ongoing.

To help prevent future thefts from vehicles, the Wellington County OPP would like to remind everyone about the “Lock It or Lose It” campaign. It is a crime prevention program that reminds the public to lock their vehicles and to not leave any valuables or keys inside the vehicle. These steps will help reduce the motivation and likelihood of property crimes.
A few other simple tips to decrease the risk of being victimized are:
- Lock your doors
- Roll up your windows
- Keep valuables out of sight
- Keep your registration and proof of insurance in your wallet or purse, not in the glove box
- Pocket your keys
- At night or during extended parking periods, always park in a well-lit area.
