It is a crime prevention program that reminds the public to lock their vehicles and to not leave any valuables or keys inside the vehicle. These steps will help reduce the motivation and likelihood of property crimes.
A few other simple tips to decrease the risk of being victimized are:
- Lock your doors
- Roll up your windows
- Keep valuables out of sight
- If you have a garage, use it and lock both the vehicle and garage doors
- Keep your registration and proof of insurance in your wallet or purse, not in the glove box
- Store your vehicle’s keys in a signal-blocking pouch or container, to prevent thieves from intercepting your key fob’s signal
- At night or during extended parking periods, always park in a well-lit area
- Install a surveillance camera or motion sensor lighting to help deter thieves
If you do suspect that your vehicle has been entered, please report it.
