NEWS RELEASE WELLINGTON COUNTY OPP
(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) – A Guelph resident criminally charged twice stemming from a traffic stop.
On March 17, 2026, at approximately 11:00 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were performing a proactive traffic enforcement initiative, which results in a traffic stop being conducted on St David Street North within the Town of Fergus.
As a result of the investigation, a 49-year-old of Guelph is charged under the Criminal Code with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on April 28, 2026.
