Press Release: Wellington County OPP, March 20, 2026.
WELLINGTON NORTHÂ – On March 20, 2026, at approximately 4:15 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), alongside local emergency services received a report of a single vehicle collision involving a hydro pole at the intersection of Southgate Sideroad 49 and Highway 89, within Wellington North Township, just outside of the Town of Mount Forest.
On arrival, a hydro pole was found to be struck with hydro wires over the roadway, and the vehicle involved discovered in a nearby ditch.
The driver was able to escape the vehicle and is currently being treated by Paramedic Services. No other occupants were inside of the vehicle.
Hydro Crews are enroute to the site, and the intersection of Southgate Sideroad 49 and Highway 89 is expected to remain closed for the next several hours. The public is asked to please avoid the area and use alternate routes.
