Press Release: Wellington County OPP, March 26, 2026.
PUSLINCH – A Guelph driver is charged following a traffic stop in Puslinch.
On March 25, 2026, at approximately 4:45 p.m., a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit was conducting proactive traffic enforcement on Wellington Road 35 in Puslinch when the cruiser’s Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) notified the officer of a vehicle travelling with an expired permit. A traffic stop was initiated. The vehicle was observed to be in an unsafe condition.
As a result of the investigation, a 55-year-old from Guelph, is charged under the Highway Traffic Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:
- Operate unsafe vehicle
- No muffler- motor vehicle
- Defective braking system
- Owner operate a motor vehicle without insurance
- Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Provincial Offences Court in Guelph on July 15, 2026.
Licence plates were seized from the vehicle as it was unfit for the roadway.
The Wellington OPP would like to remind drivers that it is their responsibility to ensure vehicles are fit for the roadways. Vehicles with defects, significant damage and excessive wear and tear place everyone’s safety at risk.
