NEWS RELEASE WELLINGTON COUNTY OPP
(WELLINGTON NORTH TOWNSHIP, ON) – A novice driver is charged following a traffic stop in Harriston.
On April 1, 2026, at approximately 12:15 a.m., a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) traffic management unit was conducting traffic patrol on when they initiated a traffic stop on Arthur Street East in Harriston.
As a result of the investigation, a 26-year-old from Mount Forest, is charged under the Criminal Code and the Highway Traffic Act with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on May 15, 2026.
90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
