MINTO – An OPP cruiser was struck while on a traffic stop outside Harriston Thursday morning.
At around 7:30 am, a two-vehicle collision occurred on Highway 89, involving two pick-up trucks sideswiping each other, while going northbound and southbound.
As a result of the collision, police say a flatbed trailer, which was being towed by one of the pick-up trucks, dislodged and propelled into a nearby Wellington County OPP cruiser, which was on an unrelated traffic stop on Highway 89, just north of Harriston.
As a result of the multi-vehicle collision, no injuries were reported. Damage was sustained to both pick-up trucks, to the dislodged trailer, and minor damage occurred to the OPP cruiser.
The vehicle that was pulled over by the OPP was not damaged, and no injuries were reported either.
Highway 89 was closed between Harriston and Mount Forest as a result of the collision, alongside Minto Line 12, 10th Line and Wellington Road 2, but all have since reopened.
Anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or has information, such as dashcam footage, that could assist with this ongoing investigation is asked to contact the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
