NEWS RELEASE WELLINGTON COUNTY OPP
(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TWP, ON) – Impaired driver arrested with three children were in vehicle.
On April 2, 2026, at approximately 8:30 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting proactive patrol when a traffic complaint came in from the public, alerting officers of a motor vehicle displaying signs of impaired driving, with the vehicle almost striking an on-coming tractor-trailer and landing on a curb, and now blocking a live lane of traffic. Police then subsequently started to receive numerous other complaints of the same occurrence happening in real-time.
Officers quickly attended to the scene and discovered that there were three small children as passengers in the vehicle.
As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old of Acton was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on May 12, 2026.
No injuries were reported.
