ELORA – The Township of Centre Wellington continues to prepare for its paid parking program in Downtown Elora.
In a post to social media, the township says work is continuing behind the scenes to get the paid parking system ready for a spring rollout, including installation and testing of parking kiosks.
Residents may start to notice activity around the installed machines as this work takes place.
The township says the work is required to finalize the commissioning of the kiosks and connectivity before launch.
The program was to launch in January; however, the township pushed the launch date to allow additional time for signage installation and kiosk commissioning, noting at the time that weather-related challenges had impacted program readiness.
Back in May, Centre Wellington council approved the start of a Downtown Paid Parking Program in Elora, introducing two zones:
- Zone 1 for high-turnover parking with a three-hour limit
- Zone 2 for longer stays of up to 24 hours.
The program will see a consistent rate of three dollars per hour, with Zone 2 capped at a daily maximum of fifteen dollars.
Users of parking in the designated zones in Elora will be able to pay online or by using one of the installed Kiosks in the Downtown area to access the online payment site.
Paid parking will run seven days a week, from 9am to 7pm.
Centre Wellington residents can still register their licence plates for free parking, and in partnership with the Elora BIA, employers will also be able to register one vehicle per employee for free parking in the downtown core.
