NEWS RELEASE WELLINGTON COUNTY OPP
(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – A youth has been charged following an incident in Fergus.
On April 23, 2026, at approximately 11:30 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the report of an incident on Scotland Street in Fergus involving a youth.
As a result of the investigation, a 15-year-old from Fergus, is charged under the Criminal Code with:
- Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
- Assault with a weapon
- Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm
No injuries were reported. There is no threat to the public as police believe this was an isolated incident.
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph, at a future date to speak to the charges.
The youth’s identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
