PUBLIC NOTICE TOWN OF ERIN
The Town of Erin is advising all properties located south of Church Boulevard in Erin Village that a Boil Water Advisory is now in effect.
Why is this advisory in place?
This advisory has been issued following a low-pressure event in the water system that occurred during the repair of a watermain break. As a precautionary measure, and under the direction of the Ministry of Health, the advisory has been implemented to protect public health.
What should you do?
Until further notice, all water used for consumption-related purposes, including the following list, must be brought to a rolling boil for at least five (5) minutes:
- Drinking
- Cooking and food preparation
- Brushing teeth
- Making ice or beverages
- Washing fruits and vegetables
Bottled water may be used as an alternative.
Additional precaution
Once normal water service has been fully restored, water users are advised to run cold water taps thoroughly (e.g., 5–10 minutes or until the water runs clear), as some sediment may have been disturbed in the watermain during the repair and pressure restoration.
How long will this last?
The advisory will remain in effect until:
- Water samples are collected,
- Tested at an accredited laboratory, and
- Confirmed to meet all provincial drinking water quality standards.
This process typically takes at least 24–48 hours, but timing may vary depending on test results. The Town will notify all affected properties once the advisory is lifted.
Stay informed
Updates will be posted on the Town of Erin website and social media channels as new information becomes available.
