NEWS RELEASE WELLINGTON COUNTY OPP
(MAPLETON TOWNSHIP, ON) – Police have charged an individual in connection with a double fatal collision from October 2025.
On Friday, October 2, 2025, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), alongside the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team and local paramedic and fire services responded to a report of a collision involving a farm tractor and a pick-up truck on Eighth Line in Mapleton.
Both the occupants of the pick-up truck, a 32-year-old male and a 39-year-old female from Drayton, were pronounced deceased on scene and the driver of the farm tractor was transported to hospital with minor injuries.
As a result of the investigation, a 43-year-old from Drayton, has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:
- Improper lights on farm vehicle
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Provincial Offences Court – Guelph at a later date.
