Press Release: Wellington County OPP, April 27, 2026.
WELLINGTON COUNTY – Two motorists were removed from Wellington County roadways yesterday after being charged with impaired driving.
On April 26, 2026, at approximately 4:00 p.m., a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit was conducting proactive traffic patrol on Eliza Street in Arthur, when they observed a vehicle to be an unsafe condition and initiated a traffic stop.
As a result of the investigation, a 46-year-old male from Arthur, has been charged under the Criminal Code and the Highway Traffic Act with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operate unsafe combination of vehicles
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on June 5, 2026.
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
Additionally, on April 26, 2026, at approximately 9:00 p.m., a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was performing proactive traffic enforcement, which resulted in a traffic stop being conducted on Wellington Road 124 within the Town of Erin.
As a result of the investigation, a 24-year-old male from Mississauga, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on June 2, 2026.
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
