FERGUS – In local PJHL playoff hockey action, the Fergus Whalers took a huge step in their quest for the Schmalz Cup with a 7 to 4 road win in Tavistock Wednesday night before a crowd of over 700 fans.
The Whalers now lead the best-of-seven series two games to one, with games 4 and 5 back home in Fergus this Friday evening and Sunday afternoon.
Joey Martin, with 3 goals and 2 helpers, led the Whaler attack, with Jake Lessor chipping in with two markers of his own.
