FERGUS/ELORA/GUELPH – Community members across Elora, Fergus, and Guelph came together in a big way for McHappy Day on May 6th, helping raise more than $100,000 in support of children and families facing medical challenges.
McDonald’s Restaurants in Elora, Fergus, and Guelph announced this week that this year’s McHappy Day campaign raised a total of $100,395.72 for Ronald McDonald House South Central Ontario, The KidsAbility Foundation, and the Guelph Wish Fund for Children.
The annual fundraiser supports organizations that provide care, assistance, and essential services to children and families during some of the most difficult times in their lives.
Ronald McDonald House helps families with critically sick or injured children stay close to hospital care while receiving support that reduces stress and barriers during treatment. Across Canada, Ronald McDonald House programs work to strengthen families and promote healing when children need healthcare most.
Restaurant organizers said the success of this year’s campaign would not have been possible without the generosity of customers, volunteers, and community supporters.
“It was a very happy McHappy Day,” organizers said in a statement. “Thank you so very much for being a part of this incredible event — we can’t do it without the support of people like you.”
They also acknowledged the many long-time supporters who continue to contribute year after year.
“Together we are strengthening our communities and making an immeasurable impact on the lives of children and families right when they need it most,” the statement said.
During McHappy Day, a portion of the proceeds from menu item purchases helps support Ronald McDonald House Charities and local children’s organizations across Canada.
