CENTRE WELLINGTON —The government is taking action to protect Ontario by investing $112,065.28 in Wellington-Halton Hills to help prepare for and respond to emergencies. Funding is being delivered through the Community Emergency Preparedness Grant (CEPG), which strengthens emergency preparedness by helping communities improve their local resilience.
The following local townships are receiving provincial funding through the Community Emergency Preparedness Grant:
- Town of Erin is receiving $49,000 to address growing risks associated with electrical energy failures and cyberattacks that could impact critical infrastructure like the town’s newly commissioned Water Recovery Facility. The project will support planning, connectivity redundancy, emergency exercises, and equip their Emergency Operations Centre with vital tools to ensure operational resilience.
- Town of Halton Hills is receiving $30,427.81 to enhance the Town’s Emergency Operations Centre capacity during severe weather events including ice storms, tornadoes, heat events, and thunderstorms. Funding will support new audiovisual conferencing equipment, portable EOC equipment, and annual Incident Management System training for emergency response staff.
- Township of Centre Wellington is receiving $32,637.47 to improve emergency shelter operations and emergency response capacity. Funding will support updated shelter supplies, staff training, and the purchase of a drone for the volunteer Fire Department to assist in emergency response efforts during severe weather and road closures.

“Our government is strengthening the readiness of local communities and organizations to better prepare for any type of emergency,” said Jill Dunlop, Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Response. “Whether it’s modernizing an emergency operations centre or investing in a generator to power a warming centre during a winter storm, these investments help to protect communities across Ontario.”
