(WELLINGTON COUNTY, ON) – Several motorists have been removed from Wellington County roadways recently after being charged with impaired driving.
On May 7, 2026, at approximately 11:15 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the report of a single vehicle collision on Concession Road 2 and Wellington Road 32 in Puslinch Township.
As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old from Waterloo, is charged under the Criminal Code with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on June 16, 2026.
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
On May 8, 2026, at approximately 1:45 p.m., a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit was conducting proactive traffic patrol on Highway 7 in Guelph-Eramosa Township, when they came across a motorist suspected to be impaired.
As a result of the investigation, a 61-year-old from Guelph, is charged under the Criminal Code with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on June 19, 2026.
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
On May 9, 2026, at approximately 5:00 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the report of a single vehicle collision into a tree on Darkwood Road in Puslinch Township.
As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old from Hamilton, is charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Failure or refusal to comply with demand
- Operation while prohibited – legal restriction from any other act of Parliament or provincial law
- Drive motor vehicle – not equipped with ignition interlock device
- Owner operate a motor vehicle without insurance
The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on June 19, 2026.
On May 9, 2026, at approximately 12:30 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) spot check to examine the sobriety of drivers on Wellington Road 21 in Inverhaugh. A vehicle entered the checkpoint, where officers detected signs of impairment.
As a result of the investigation, a 64-year-old from Orangeville, is charged under the Criminal Code and the Cannabis Control Act with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on July 28, 2026.
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a 45-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
On May 9, 2026, at approximately 7:45 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint from a member of the public of a suspected impaired driver on Wellington Road 124 in the Town of Erin.
As a result of the investigation, a 52-year-old from Amaranth Township, is charged under the Criminal Code with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on June 19, 2026.
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
On May 9, 2026, at approximately 9:45 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint from a member of the public of a suspected impaired driver on Wellington Road 32 in Guelph-Eramosa Township.
As a result of the investigation, a 49-year-old from Guelph-Eramosa Township, is charged under the Criminal Code with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on June 16, 2026.
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
On May 10, 2026, at approximately 1:45 a.m., a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on proactive traffic patrol on Wellington Road 9 within Mapleton Township, when they came across a motorist suspected to be impaired.
As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old from Drayton, is charged under the Criminal Code and the Liquor Licence Control Act with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Driving motor vehicle while liquor readily available
The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on June 19, 2026.
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
