ELORA – An official grand reopening of the Elora Waste Facility was held Thursday morning following nearly eleven months of site improvements.
While the facility reopened to the public earlier this spring, local officials gathered today for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a closer look at the upgrades completed at the facility site.
Speaking at the event today, Das Soligo, Manager of Solid Waste Services, says finding a home for materials that would normally go to the garbage is vital in this day and age.

The County says the site improvements included:
- An expanded drop-off area for improved unloading and traffic management
- Scale house construction with installation of dual scales
- Replacement of the retaining wall and the Household Hazardous Waste building
- Paving and concrete works
- Additional areas established for the placement and storage of waste diversion materials
Centre Wellington Mayor Shawn Watters said this facility plays an important role in the community as one of the busiest sites in the County.
