GUELPH – The Guelph Humane Society is asking for the public’s help after taking in a severely neglected dog named Rosa.
According to the organization, Rosa arrived at the shelter suffering from significant medical issues linked to neglect. Her nails had grown so long that she has difficulty walking, her skin is painfully infected, and her fur is thin and patchy. Staff also discovered a large untreated growth hanging from her mouth.
The society says Rosa was found alone, frightened and in pain.
Veterinary staff have begun treatment to ease Rosa’s discomfort and assess the full extent of her medical needs. However, the organization says it is still too early to determine the scope of her recovery or the total cost of her care.
In a social media post, the Guelph Humane Society described Rosa’s condition as heartbreaking, adding that its team is committed to providing the compassionate treatment she has been denied for far too long.
The organization is encouraging community members to make donations to help cover Rosa’s medical expenses and support other vulnerable animals in need of shelter and care.
Donations can be made through the Guelph Humane Society’s Rosa fundraising campaign.
