NEWS RELEASE WELLINGTON COUNTY OPP
(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – Police are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a person of interest in connection to a recent assault in Erin.
On June 2, 2026, at approximately 6:15 p.m., a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the report of a roadside assault near Fifth Line and Wellington Road 50 in Erin.
It was reported that the victim pulled over in their vehicle to assist a suspect on the side of the road. An altercation between the suspect and the victim occurred where the victim was assaulted. The suspect departed the scene prior to police arrival. The victim was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The Wellington County OPP is investigating this incident and is looking to identify the involved suspect or vehicle involved.
Suspect is described as:
- Male
- Black
- 6’0″-6’2″ tall
- Stocky build
- Patchy stubble beard and curly hair with shaved sides, dreadlock style
- Wearing a thick gold chain, work-style gloves, earrings (loop in left ear, small diamond in right)
Suspect vehicle is described as:
- Older model dark grey Honda Accord or Civic (1980s-1990s)
- Oversized exhaust attached
- Minor damage to the driver-side bumper
