CENTRE WELLINGTON – Centre Wellington councillor Bronwynne Wilton has officially announced that she is joining the race for Mayor Of Centre Wellington. She made the announcement on social media on June 30.
In her announcement posted to her website, Wilton states: “It has been an honour and a privilege to serve as the Ward Councillor for Ward 5 for the past 4 years and I look forward to taking what I’ve learned as Councillor, combined with my education and experience, to be the kind of Mayor that Centre Wellington needs and deserves.”
Wilton was the Ontario Green Party candidate for Wellington Halton-Hills in the 2025 provincial election, losing to Progressive Conservative Joseph Racinsky.
In her statement Wilton said, “I will approach my role as Mayor in the same way and with a laser focus on long-term strategic thinking about what is best for our community,” adding, “Centre Wellington is a growing community and with growth comes change. Change can bring challenges, like increased traffic, but also many positives, like new neighbours and friends.”
Among her campaign goals, she outlines needs of a growing community such as efficient infrastructure, policies around growth and economic development, housing options, water protection, accessible green spaces, recreational facilities for all stages and abilities, and a balance of the economic benefits of tourism that also meets the needs of residents.
“And most importantly, we need people. People are at the heart of every community and we need to embrace a culture of inclusivity, collaboration, and kindness,” Wilton said.
She joins a list of mayoral candidates that include Shawn Watters, Neil Dunsmore, and Kelly Linton.
