CENTRE WELLINGTON – Most Hydro One customers affected by Wednesday’s powerful thunderstorms have now had their electricity restored, but several hundred remain without power across the Fergus and Elora area.
According to the Hydro One outage map, more than 2,400 customers were without electricity on Wednesday morning. As of the latest update, that number has dropped significantly, with roughly 300 customers still waiting for power to be restored.
Hydro One says crews continue working to repair storm-related damage across the province and restore service as safely and quickly as possible. The utility notes that estimated restoration times may change as crews assess damage in the field and complete necessary repairs.
Meanwhile, Centre Wellington Hydro says service has been restored to all of its customers, with the exception of a small number of locations where storm-damaged, customer-owned electrical equipment must be repaired before power can be safely reconnected.
Customers served by Centre Wellington Hydro who remain without electricity are asked to report their outage by calling 519-843-2900.
Residents are reminded to stay well clear of any downed power lines and always assume they are energized. Anyone who encounters a downed power line should keep a safe distance and report it immediately to Hydro One, or call 911 if there is an immediate threat to public safety.
